Albert Batten
Albert Batten has proudly stood with working people throughout his career – on picket lines and as a union representative.
In 1998, he became a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) working as a Checker on the Port of Montreal. Throughout his time in the ILA, Albert has held many executive positions, including Trustee and President, leading the membership through contract negotiations over many years.
Today, Albert is the Atlantic Coast Vice President of the ILA, proudly fighting for the rights of Port Workers across Eastern Canada.
Albert strives to put empathy at the heart of his work. He is heavily involved in charities that give back to his community and believes that Mirabel deserves a representative that looks out for everyone – not just the rich and powerful.
Albert and his family have been residents of Mirabel for 13 years. This is where his sons grew up. They have now graduated from high school and are beginning their lives as young adults. Albert is ready to fight for a Canada where his sons and all future generations can thrive – where workers have fair wages and no one has to choose between paying for rent and paying for groceries.
Albert would be honoured to represent the people who make Mirabel such a special place to call home.
